Road Trip Checklist

Dream Angel and Slow Magic

Slow Magic and I go on a lot of road trips…so many that I feel like l like I am becoming somewhat of an expert when preparing for one. That being said, I wanted to share my Road Trip Checklist with you so you can use it on your next road trip.

Road Trip Checklist

1. Be prepared : make sure you have, at the very least, a first aid kit and a flashlight. If you are driving through mountains, make sure you bring a cold weather kit with blankets, hot hands, and food and water.

2. Bring a cooler with snacks. I like to make and bring lots of healthy snacks so we do not have to stop along the way. Also bring bottles of water and coffee for if you are getting tired.

Favorite road trip snacks : tofu spring rolls, Japanese sweet potatoes, and little containers of grapes, dried mango.

Tips for packing your cooler :

  • Only put cold food in the cooler, bring another bag with dried goods.

  • When you pack your cooler, separate items logically into different bags so you know where everything is and you can easily grab what you are looking for.

  • Bring utensils and napkins.

3. Have a Clean Car Kit : bring a roll of paper towels, wet wipes, trash bags, hand sanitizer, and paintbrushes (the are like little brooms for the car).

4. Entertainment : download music and podcasts in advance so it isn’t silent in the no service zones. Also, be sure to bring an aux cable.

A few podcasts we like : Reply All, Stuff You Should Know, The Poundcast, and Mortified.

5. Keep the backseat organized so you can grab things easily.

6. Bring a cable to charge your phone.

Other tips :

  • When the sun goes down, pull over and walk around so you do not get sleepy.

  • If you do get sleepy, pull over and get a hotel room. For yourself and others, please be safe 🙂

  • If there are only scary restrooms at gas stations, you can also use the bathrooms at hotels, grocery stores, fast food restaurants and places like Target or Walmart.

  • Get out of the car every couple of hours to walk around, drink lots of water, and bring charcoal pills so you won’t feel bloated at the end of a long drive.

Burberry Check

Hello :) Sorry for the lack of posts, Slow Magic and I just got back from a road trip to Colorado, where we were finishing up celebrating Christmas. I was hoping to take more pictures while we were there but we didn’t have much time. That being said, I did manage to get this outfit pic when we stopped near Vail on our drive home.

The theme of this outfit is ‘things that I found while going through my closet’, as the scarf, bag, earmuffs, and skirt were all found in my closet at home in VT. Lately, I have been into the idea of wearing hints of the classic Burberry check (like on the cuff of a jacket or the inside of a coat or something) so I was super excited to find a few things that I already owned with the print. I paired the check with black but I think that it would look so nice with cream or pink :)

Anyways, It finally feels like the start of the new year and now that we are back at our apartment, I am hoping to get the kitchen and our closets more organized (I am not usually big on new years resolutions so I will call this a new years goal). Do you guys have any new years resolutions/goals?

Here are a few pics from Aspen/Snowmass, where Slow Magic and I went to celebrate our first wedding anniversary as well as Thanksgiving. We wanted a place with a real wood burning fireplace so we decided to get an airbnb. We ended up finding one in Snowmass that had a full kitchen and a fireplace, it was so cozy and perfect.

On the day of Thanksgiving, we drove to Aspen to pick up some things we needed for our dinner from one of our favorite stores, Carl’s Pharmacy and then went on a walk around the town. On the way back to our airbnb, we decided to take a detour and found a snowy walking path that was just too pretty to pass up. After dinner, we took a walk around Snowmass (I guess we went on a lot of walks lol) and it ended up snowing so much, it was the best! Xx

On our drive from Aspen to Boulder, we were able to go through Independence Pass, which closes during the winter. The leaves were so beautiful and it honestly felt like we were in a dream.

Right now, we are getting ready to leave for NYC and then for Slow Magic’s Asia tour. There is so much to do before we leave and I am not quite sure what I should pack… I am feeling overwhelmed lol.

Yesterday, Slow Magic and I drove back from Colorado to Phoenix (eleven hours straight! And SM did all of the driving…he is the best). Now that we are back, I wanted to post a few pics from the trip.

Aspen is so pretty this time of year…the trees are so colorful, the days are warm and the nights are cool. It feels so fall :) We spent the afternoon before the show having lunch outside at a place we like called Ajax, and then just wandering around before soundcheck. xx
