Davines Hair Masks

Dreamline Alliance

When Slow Magic and I first got engaged and were starting the process of planning our wedding, I decided to get serious about trying to grow my hair longer (and it did grow longer and it continues to, for me this is so exciting!). After researching the best ways to go about this, I realized for this to happen, I needed to have a healthy scalp and I needed to stop all of the breakage that was happening from dying my hair blonde and the constant blowouts. SO, I ordered a silk pillow case, vowed to only blowout my hair if absolutely necessary, focused on having a healthy scalp, stopped using shampoos with sodium laurel sulfate, and decided to make sure my ends were always moisturized.

…which brings me to hair masks…I have always liked and used hair masks but I started getting serious about them when I started growing out my hair. Nowadays, I am wearing a hair mask about 40% of the time….I love them. Is that maybe too much time to be wearing a hair mask? Whose to say. The point is, I have found my favorite line of hair masks : The Circle Chronicles by Davines. I have been using different ones from this line for about three months now and I am obsessed! Here are my favorite ones (the ones that I am constantly ordering off of amazon) :

Dreamline Alliance

The Renaissance Circle

The one I use the most is The Renaissance Circle, it is a repairing hair mask and I just apply it to washed and towel dried hair, comb it through and then put my hair into a top knot while I am at the gym or literally just all day. After, when I rinse my hair at night, my hair is so soft and it smells amazing (Slow Magic comments every time about how nice my hair smells).

Dreamline Alliance

The Purity Circle

My other favorite, if I had to choose, would be The Purity Circle mask, which I am wearing as I write this (we are in LA right now…and I cannot think of a more appropriate time for an anti-pollution mask lol). I apply the mask to my scalp before I shampoo my hair (while it is still dry) or, right after I shampoo my hair. It is a purifying and anti-pollution mask that makes my hair feel so so soft and clean.

Dreamline Alliance

The Spotlight Circle

The Spotlight Circle is what I use for true angel hair. It not only deeply nourishes your hair, it makes it so incredibly shiny…it is like highlighter for your hair. Idk what it is, but the product itself has a shimmer to it and every time I use it, I get so happy just looking at it (it’s the little things lol)

Travel Makeup

When I am on tour or just traveling, I bring all of my makeup in my carryon. Overtime, I have come to realize that all of the little things can add up to be one extremely heavy, awkwardly shaped thing in your bag and because of this I have become extremely selective with the makeup that I do bring. I tend to choose multi use products like a lip/cheek color or I choose a shade of brown eyeliner (the one that I am using right now happens to actually be an eyebrow pencil from Shiesido that I know will work as a makeshift contouring pencil in order to streamline my cosmetics bag. That being said, I wanted to share the things that I always have in my makeup bag. Before I get into that though, I just wanted to preface this by saying that I have oily, acne prone skin (idk why, but saying that to the internet makes me feel so vulnerable lol) so many of these products are geared to that.

Dreamline Alliance

Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

This moisturizer has a cult following for a reason. This gentle but powerful moisturizer is suitable for all skin types and it leaves skin super hydrated and smooth. I use it as my moisturizer and primer.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Skin Equalizer (1 Mattifying Primer)

If I want my makeup to last all day, I use this primer. It is great for oily skin and my makeup really stays in place.

RMS Signature Set : Pop Collection

When I found out about the RMS Signature Sets right before we went on tour in Europe I was super excited. There are two different types of sets : the Pop Collection and the Mod Collection, and each consolidates five (extremely versatile) certified organic products into one light weight palette, making them perfect for traveling. I love their Pop Collection, which has a bronzer (eye shadow if you want), highlighter (eye shadow again, I also use it to contour my lips), two lip/cheek/eye shadow colors and a lip/skin balm.

RMS Beauty "Un" Powder

I use this as my setting powder, it doesn’t make me breakout so it is my go to.

Nars Cosmetics Comfortable Soft Radiant Creamy Concealer in custard and vanilla

I love this concealer so much. It doesn’t make me breakout, it doesn’t dry my skin out, and it provides just the right amount of coverage. I just use it under my eyes or wherever I need it over my tinted moisturizer.

Kevyn Aucoin : The Eyelash Curler

This is the best eyelash curler that I have ever used. I have tried I feel like all of the most popular eyelash curlers out there, and I do not think I fully understood why anyone would buy an expensive one until I tried this one.

Shiseido : Eyebrow Pencil #2 dark brown

I use this for eyeliner, my eyebrows, and for contouring. It is high quality and inexpensive (it is only $5.64!). the eyebrow pencil also comes in black and I use it as an eyeliner : Shiseido Eyebrow Pencil Black.

stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

I like this eyeliner because it is so easy to use (maybe this only happens to me, but it doesn’t erase the eyeliner you have already put on if you go over it again) and the pen doesn’t dry out easily.

Maybelline Makeup Great Lash Lots Of Lashes Washable Mascara in Blackest Black

Finding a mascara that doesn’t bother me when there are fog machines at venues is tricky. I usually go for tubing mascaras but lately I have been using this one. I love the wand, I can basically buy it wherever, and it comes off easily.

Bioderma Hydrabio H2O Micellar Water, Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Solution

I love this micellar water, it removes everything easily and makes my skin feel so so clean.

Which makeup products do you consider to be essentials?

Cozy Essentials

1. Diptyque Thé candle

Although I do not like having too many scented candles around, I think that having one good quality one is important for making things cozy (regardless of the season). Diptyque candles are my favorite and even though I love getting their holiday candles, I feel weird burning them after the holiday season. Their Thé candle is a warm candle that I think makes sense all season (other good winter ones are amber and orange!).

2. Weleda Skin Food

In my opinion, being cozy is about being comfortable and having dry skin is not comfortable. That being said, Weleda’s Skin Food, is my go to lotion. It is organic and I love the way it smells (Slow Magic does too)!

3. 100% pure silk scrunchie

I think silk is a curly hair essential and after searching for quite a bit I was so happy to finally find these.

4. cable knit blanket

I love this blanket!

5. Davines hair mask

For me, self care is an important part of being cozy and I like to do hair masks literally all of the time. I picked this one up when we were in Tokyo and I really like the way it smells (SM thinks it smells like axe body spray but idc haha).

6. candles

I always buy unscented white or cream ones in different sizes.

7. Over-the-knee socks

I am very into over-the-knee socks (maybe you have noticed lol) and I think they are essential for coziness.

8. Ugg Women’s Mini Bailey Button Boot

I love these, I have a similar pair that I keep in Vermont and I have worn them so much that they are getting worn out (I look forward to wearing them every time I come home)!

Paris Shopping List

Beauty products : It is pretty safe to say that if I am traveling to a foreign country known for its cosmetics you will find the most dedicated version of me ready with a phone filled with screenshots of beauty products that I have spent far too much time researching (which honestly makes navigating a French/Japanese/etc pharmacy way easier and far less intimidating). For me, wandering up and down unknown streets in search of a moisturizer, balm, or whatever other US unavailable product that I may have in mind is one of my most favorite touring activities. For others (Slow Magic), it is probably the most boring version of whatever a wild goose chase is. Luckily for him, most French beauty products are now widely accessible in the US (Embryolisse Lait-Creme is sold at Target and mostly everything else is available on amazon) and I was able to streamline my shopping list down to one France only beauty product : Biafine (a moisturizer).

Monoprix underwear :

For a while, I thought my obsession with the underwear from the French grocery store Monoprix (which I originally bought out of necessity on tour) was weird enough to keep a secret. That all changed when I read that Vogue Senior Editor, Lauren Mechling, also loves them. They are plain with a little lace, white and 100% cotton, so to me they are perfect.

Marie Antoinette Tea from Ladurée :

This has been my favorite tea since I was seventeen and finding it in the Paris airport last summer was a game changer for my mornings. I am not entirely sure if this is only available in France (I couldn’t get a straight answer from the girl at the Ladurée in SoHo) but I make sure to pick up a box every time that I am there.
